Weekend rain and wind advisories issued for Bay Area

 




The National Weather Service forecasted an eastern Pacific low-pressure system rainfall for late Saturday night and Sunday. The rainfall is expected to result in flooding. The flood watch has been issued for the Bay Area and Central Coast from 4 p.m. Saturday through 10 a.m. Monday. 


Cloverdale, Santa Rosa, Napa, Concord, San Francisco, Half Moon Bay, Livermore, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Gilroy, Monterey, Big Sur, Salinas, and King City are under the flood watch. According to NWS, roads, streams, creeks, and rivers may be impacted by the floods.

A high wind warning is when strong southerly winds with gusts 60 mph or greater are forecasted. A high wind warning has been issued for the Cities of King City, Big Sur, Monterey, Salinas, Santa Cruz, and Half Moon Bay. Parts of Concord, Livermore, Gilroy, and San Jose have both a high wind advisory and a wind advisory.  

The NWS issued a wind advisory for other cities in the Bay Area: Cloverdale, Santa Rosa, and Napa. This wind advisory means winds are predicted to travel 50 mph. 

The wind advisories are issued from 4 p.m. Sunday to 10 p.m. Sunday. 

The NWS warns that downed trees could result in power outages and winds could potentially blow around unsecured objects.
