Hurricane-force gusts topped 100 mph in Bay Area during rare storm.

  


    A February rainstorm blew damaging and deadly wind gusts across the San Francisco Bay Area. More than ten zones monitored closely by forecasters had hurricane-force gusts on Sunday. At Pablo Point in Marin County, wind speeds topped 100 miles-per-hour.

The storm was the second one powered by an atmospheric river to hit Northern California within one week.

The top 10 maximum wind gusts in the Bay Area Sunday are below, according to the National Weather Service.

  1. Pablo Point, Marin County: 102 mph
  2. Road to Ranches, Marin County: 99 mph
  3. Loma Prieta, Santa Cruz Mountains: 98 mph
  4. Knpt Towers, Santa Clara County: 97 mph
  5. Pine Mountain Fire Road, Marin County: 96 mph
  6. Soda Springs Road, Santa Clara County: 96 mph
  7. Gunsight Fire Road, Marin County: 96 mph
  8. Cobb Ridge West, Marin County: 95 mph
  9. Point Reyes, Marin County: 89 mph
  10. Lucas Valley, Marin County: 89 mph

The National Weather Service published more than 100 recorded peak wind gusts around the Bay Area on Monday according to preliminary data.
