Baseball Player Was Traded While He Was Standing On Second Base

Friday night, it was reported that Minnesota Twins second baseman Luis Arraez was being traded to the San Diego Padres. Just like most blockbuster trades, there were a few prospects involved in the deal.

In order to part ways with Arraez, the Twins wanted reliever Woo-Suk Go and a trio of prospects in Dillon Head, Jakob Marsee and Nathan Martorella.

Martorella was actually playing in a minor league game for the San Antonio Missions when he found out he was being traded. His coach had to break the news to him while he was standing on second base.

It was a bit odd watching Martorella head to the dugout knowing it'd be his final time suiting up for San Antonio.

Footage of this sequence surfaced on social media. MLB fans had a lot to say about the way Martorella learned that he was being traded to the Marlins.

"Baseball is the wildest sport man," one fan said. "I can’t imagine finding out this way."

Another fan said, "This is crazy."

Martorella, a former fifth-round pick, had a .294 batting average with an .282 OPS for San Antonio this season.

The Twins are hoping Martorella could eventually develop into an impact player in the MLB.
